Are You Xperienced? The Damien Wayne Interview

AYP: Hey champ, I'm so happy to have you on AYP Wrestling. Things are really heating up for you, but before we get into all that, please take us through your early days and why you became a professional wrestler. DAMIEN WAYNE: Been a fan since I was 7 and knew then this is what I wanted to do. As I got older I really excelled in baseball so played that all growing up. Was hoping to go somewhere with baseball but blew out my shoulder. Came across VCW here in Newport News, VA and decided to start training at the age of 30, lol, dove in a went for it. AYP: Were you always a wrestling fan? If so, who were some of your influences? DW: Always! Tully Blanchard, Manny Fernandez, Jake Roberts, Barry Windham, Rick Rude. That's my top 5 guys and influences. Savage is at six. AYP: You are one of the top singles contenders in the NWA right now. On May 31, at The Sawmill, you called out then NWA World heavyweight champion, NJPW's Satoshi Kojima but were unsuccessful in your attempt to win the title. Since then, "Ironman" Rob Conway regained the belt in Las Vegas. What is your opinion of the new champion, and are you petitioning for a title match soon? DW: Nothing but respect for Rob Conway. Now I feel he is walking in my foot steps, meaning that that was supposed to be me. I got screwed out of the NWA world title and Rob steps right on in, but I can definitely say he's been a fighting champion and great representative for the NWA. As for me getting a shot at "my" title? I will, and when I do, I will take advantage of it. AYP: In addition to being one of the hottest individuals in the NWA, you are also part of the dangerous faction known as LOK, along with Lance Erikson, Phil "Nitro" Monahan, and Malice. How did you all link up, and what does each member bring to the table? DW: We all linked together up in Ohio for NWA CIW to equal the odds against the Sons of Michigan, and then they (Legion) aided us in our battles with the Fold in NWA WWW. AYP: LOK is currently embroiled in the hottest feud in NWA World Wide Wrestling against The Fold, comprised of Cueball Carmichael, "The World's Most Interesting Wrestler" Lou Marconi, Pat Cusick, and now, the Human Predator. How has this feud escalated to this level, and how will LOK end it? DW: Well, it seems like The Fold have had a change of heart. Them fools screwed me and Lance over and over, so when we bring our brothers in to even the numbers, they start crying like little girls. Well we already took their NWA WWW tag titles now we'll take their pride. AYP: The NWA overall seems to be on a major upswing, a resurgence, unlike past attempts at reintroducing the NWA brand. Chris Ronquillo and Bruce Tharpe really seem to have a vision. Where do you see NWA in the future? DW: I'm hoping for a decent tv deal for the NWA so the amazing NWA talent, which I would put up against anyone's roster, could showcase their talent all over. AYP: You and Lance Erikson have also recently wrestled for ICP's JCW. How was that experience? Will you be working with the juggalos agin in the near future? DW: Working with JCW was a great Xperience. I mean hell, we are violence at it's best and think we fit in quite well. AYP: Off topic a bit, but I know you are a huge KISS fan. What was your take on their recent Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction, including the fact that they did not perform live? DW: It's about damn time and don't blame them for not playing. It's ridiculous it took this long!
